A MESSAGE FOR ARTISTS WHO PAINT FOR PURE PLEASURE

Painting for pure pleasure and hiding it away? Such a loss!

During my life's journey I have seen the art of people who paint for the pure pleasure of it. Their audience is often family and friends. After a short time of showing the artwork to their audience it is hidden away in a bottom draw, back room or attic, never to be seen again. Such a loss.

Pride in one's work. Share it!

Let me ask, do you have an artwork that you created somewhere between your childhood and now? Are you proud of that piece of work? If the answer is yes, well let me suggest this to you - share it. Yes, share it with the world, let others see your colours and your ideas. Maybe you've created only one artwork, and you believe it has no monetary worth - I say , soooooooo what!

Many people think their artwork unworthy of exposure outside of their world. Not so.

Pride in ones work is an excellent guide to the worth of a thing. Pride is such a positive emotion. The feeling of pride comes from the heart. If that's the feeling you get when you look at your creation then it's worth sharing.

The World Wide Internet Art Gallery. Wow!

If we put your artwork on a web page, standing alone in all its glory, displayed on the Internet for all to share in its artistic achievement. It becomes part of the World Wide Internet Art Gallery Collection. Wow!

No longer is the display of art limited to those who are painting on a commercial basis. No longer is the display of art limited. The Internet has given us a never-ending art space open to all who will take just one small step to placing their art on the web.

Get your art out of the "bottom draw". Come on, do it!

When you go through the art books available, it seems only a handful of people in the world painted anything. In reality there are billions of people in the world who have at one time or other in their life produced art. How can we get access to their art? How do we get it out of the "bottom draw" or the attic and see it.

I believe that wherever there are people who have access to artist materials and a surface to apply those materials they will make art for the pure pleasure of it. Art is created, it is something that did not exist and now it does. Once it exists it seems such a shame to hide it.

I'm always horrified when I hear the words . . .
"What's it for, if you can't make money out of it?

It seems that there are many people out there who think if you create something and no-one would buy it then it is not worthy and if it has no worth then what's the point in creating it? People who say that miss the point along with losing the ability to enjoy a simple pleasure. The simple pleasure of observing.

The point is . . . Art is created for its own sake. Its creator brings it into the world. Once it did not exist, now it does. That's art. And the point is . . . if only one person in the world looks at it and finds something positive in it then it was worth doing. And worth keeping.

If there are only very few of your creations in existence why would you want to sell something that is so precious. Priceless.

Let's not leave your art in the "bottom drawer".
Get it out and let someone else see it, share it!

Before the Internet became available we, artists who paint for pure pleasure, had no way of sharing our art outside of a very small group of people. The Internet is here and we artists have an unlimited audience at last.

This is a two way street. You have created an Artwork. The viewer gets to experience something that they could not get access to before the Internet was available because the art, your art, was hidden away. So I suggest to you, get your artwork out and share it with the world!
